At the time (1593), composer-publisher Thomas Morley was a new member to the Chapel Royal, and pupil of William Byrd. He accepts the occasion to present a gift to Queen Elizabeth I at court - filled with rejoicing; the court also hears music from Bennet, Byrd, and Weelkes, each offering a vocal banquet of madrigals during the golden age of English music.
